Indoor Air Quality — Davie, Davidson & Forsyth Counties

Breathe Better
Inside Your Own Home.

Whole-home air purifiers, UV germicidal systems, humidifiers, and advanced filtration — installed in your existing HVAC system for healthier air in every room.

Indoor Air Quality Upgrades

The EPA Ranks Indoor Air as a Top Environmental Health Risk

The EPA consistently ranks indoor air pollution among the top five environmental health risks — and the air inside most homes is 2–5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Dust, pet dander, mold spores, bacteria, viruses, volatile organic compounds, and humidity imbalances all circulate through your home via the HVAC system.

The good news: your HVAC system is also the most efficient delivery vehicle for air quality improvements. Whole-home solutions installed in your air handler treat every cubic foot of air in your home, every time the system runs — far more effective than room-by-room portable devices.

Indoor Air Quality Solutions We Install

Every home has different air quality challenges. We assess your specific situation and recommend the combination of solutions that will have the greatest impact.

🦠

UV Germicidal Lights

Installed in your air handler or return air stream, UV-C lights neutralize bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and other biological contaminants as air passes through. Particularly effective at preventing mold growth on the evaporator coil and eliminating musty odors.

Best for: Mold concerns, musty HVAC odors, allergy and cold/flu prevention

🌿

Whole-Home Air Purifiers

Electronic air cleaners and high-performance media filtration systems that capture particles as small as 0.1 microns — including fine dust, pet dander, pollen, smoke particles, and many airborne pathogens. Far more effective than standard HVAC filters.

Best for: Allergy and asthma sufferers, pet owners, homes with high dust levels

💧

Whole-Home Humidifiers

Bypass, flow-through, and steam humidifiers installed in the HVAC system to maintain proper humidity levels throughout your home. Reduces static electricity, protects wood floors and furniture, and makes the air feel warmer at lower thermostat settings.

Best for: Dry skin and sinuses, static electricity, wood floor protection, winter comfort

🌬️

Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERV)

ERVs bring fresh outdoor air into a tightly sealed home while recovering energy from the exhaust air stream. Essential in newer, well-insulated homes that can trap pollutants inside. Provides controlled ventilation without the energy penalty of opening windows.

Best for: Newer construction, tightly sealed homes, VOC and CO2 concerns

📊

Advanced Media Filtration

High-MERV (11–16) media filters and HEPA filtration systems that provide dramatically better particle capture than standard 1-inch filters — without the airflow restriction of a basic high-MERV filter that isn't paired with the right system.

Best for: Dust, pollen, dander, fine particle capture throughout the home

📡

Air Quality Monitoring

Smart sensors that continuously monitor particulate levels, humidity, CO2, and VOCs — giving you real-time visibility into your home's air quality and helping you understand when and why conditions change.

Best for: Data-driven households, tracking improvement after IAQ upgrades

Who Benefits Most from IAQ Upgrades

Almost every home benefits from cleaner air — but some households have more pressing needs than others.

  • Allergy and asthma sufferers
  • Homes with pets
  • Families with young children
  • Older adults with respiratory concerns
  • Homes with musty or persistent odors
  • Newer, tightly sealed construction
  • Homes after water damage or mold remediation
  • Anyone working from home full-time

Indoor Air Quality — Common Questions

How do I know if my indoor air quality is a problem?

Common indicators include frequent allergy or asthma flare-ups that worsen at home, unexplained headaches or fatigue, persistent musty odors when the HVAC runs, visible dust buildup on surfaces shortly after cleaning, or dry skin and static electricity in winter. A home assessment can identify the specific issues in your home and recommend targeted solutions.

Does a standard HVAC filter improve air quality?

Standard 1-inch fiberglass or pleated filters are designed primarily to protect your HVAC equipment from large debris — not to meaningfully improve air quality. Higher-MERV media filters (MERV 11–13) do capture smaller particles. Whole-home air purifiers, UV lights, and HEPA systems are more effective at addressing allergens, bacteria, and viruses.

What is a UV air purifier and how does it work?

UV germicidal lights are installed inside the air handler or duct system. When air passes through, UV-C radiation neutralizes bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and other biological contaminants. They're particularly effective at preventing mold growth on the evaporator coil, which is a common source of musty odors in HVAC systems.

My house feels really dry in winter. What can I do?

A whole-home humidifier installed in your HVAC system adds moisture to the air as it circulates — unlike portable humidifiers that only treat one room. Proper humidity (35–50% RH) reduces static electricity, protects wood flooring and furniture, makes the air feel warmer at lower temperatures, and reduces the survival and transmission of viruses.

Is a whole-home air purifier worth the cost versus portable units?

Portable air purifiers only treat the room they're in, require you to move them between rooms, and need frequent filter changes. A whole-home system installed in your HVAC treats every cubic foot of air in your home every time the system runs — no moving, no monitoring, no room-by-room coverage gaps. For most households, it's a significantly better long-term investment.

Can IAQ upgrades help with pet dander and allergies?

Yes. High-MERV media filters, HEPA filtration systems, and electronic air cleaners are effective at capturing pet dander and common allergens. UV systems help with mold and bacteria. For significant allergy sufferers, we'll recommend a combination approach based on your specific sensitivities and your home's existing system.
