HVAC Installation — Davie, Davidson & Forsyth Counties
New HVAC System?
Done Right, Sized Right.
Proper load calculation. Licensed installation. All major brands. We install systems that actually fit your home — not just what's convenient to carry in the truck.
New System Installation
The Right System, Installed the Right Way
A new HVAC system is one of the largest home improvement investments you'll make — and it can either pay off for 20 years or cause problems from day one, depending on how it's selected and installed. K&W takes installation seriously.
Every installation starts with a proper Manual J load calculation. We measure your home's actual heating and cooling load — not a rough estimate — so the system we install is sized correctly. An oversized system short-cycles and leaves your home humid. An undersized system runs constantly and never reaches your set temperature. Neither is acceptable.
We install all major brands, pull all required permits, and coordinate inspections — so your installation is covered by your homeowner's insurance and keeps your manufacturer's warranty intact.

What We Install
From standard replacements to full new construction installs, we handle the full range of residential and light commercial HVAC installation.
System Replacement
Replacing an aging unit with a properly sized, energy-efficient new system — same-day installation available for in-stock equipment. Your existing ductwork is inspected and cleaned as part of the process.
New Construction Installation
Full HVAC installation for new builds, including duct design, equipment selection, and installation coordinated with your build schedule. Rough-in and trim-out services available.
Heat Pump Systems
Energy-efficient heat pump installation for homes that want year-round comfort from a single system. Traditional ducted and ductless mini-split configurations available.
Dual-Fuel Systems
Heat pump + gas furnace hybrid systems that use the most efficient fuel source for current conditions — ideal for homes with existing gas lines who want the efficiency of a heat pump.
Our Installation Process
We follow a structured process so your new system is sized, installed, tested, and permitted correctly — no shortcuts.
In-Home Assessment
We visit your home to measure square footage, assess insulation, inspect existing ductwork, and gather the data we need for proper sizing. This visit is the foundation for everything else.
Manual J Load Calculation
We calculate your home's actual heating and cooling load using industry-standard Manual J methodology — not a rule-of-thumb estimate. This ensures your new system is neither too large nor too small.
Equipment Selection & Quote
We present your options — brands, efficiency levels, and configurations — with transparent pricing for each. We explain the payback period for higher-efficiency options so you can choose confidently.
Licensed Installation
Our technicians complete the installation to manufacturer specs, including refrigerant charging to the correct weight, electrical connections, thermostat wiring, and ductwork connections or sealing.
Testing & Commissioning
We run the system in all modes, verify airflow and temperature differential, confirm thermostat programming, and walk you through operating your new system before we leave.
Permit & Inspection
We pull the required permits and schedule the county inspection. A permitted installation protects your warranty, your insurance, and your investment.
Brands We Install
We work with all major HVAC manufacturers and help you choose based on your goals and budget — not just what's in the warehouse.

HVAC Installation — Common Questions
How do I know if I need a new HVAC system or just a repair?
We always recommend repair if it's cost-effective. As a rule of thumb, if a repair costs more than 50% of the value of a new system and your equipment is over 10–12 years old, replacement often makes more sense long-term. We'll give you honest numbers so you can decide — we never push replacement when repair is the right answer.
What size HVAC system do I need?
Proper sizing requires a Manual J load calculation — a detailed analysis of your home's square footage, insulation, window area, orientation, and local climate data. Bigger is not better: an oversized system will short-cycle, leaving your home humid and uncomfortable. We calculate the right size, not the easy one.
What brands do you install?
We install all major brands including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, American Standard, Bryant, and others. We'll help you choose based on your budget, efficiency goals, and the availability of local service and parts — not just what we have in stock.
How long does a new HVAC installation take?
A standard residential replacement — swapping an existing system — typically takes one full day. A new installation in a home without existing ductwork takes longer, depending on the scope of the duct installation. We'll give you a clear timeline before the job begins.
What SEER rating should I buy?
In North Carolina, the minimum efficiency for new AC installations is 15 SEER2. Higher-efficiency units (18–25 SEER2) cost more upfront but can significantly reduce your cooling costs over time. We'll help you calculate the payback period for higher efficiency so you can make an informed choice.
Do you handle permit and inspection for new installations?
Yes. We pull the required permits and coordinate inspections for all new system installations in Davie, Davidson, and Forsyth counties. A permitted installation protects your homeowner's insurance coverage and maintains your manufacturer's warranty.
